Tea must be made in a teapot, to be made properly. Fill the teapot with hot water to "hot the pot", while you boil the water. Boil fresh water in a kettle, and pour over the tea bag(s) in the teapot. If you don’t have a tea cosy to keep it hot, wrap a towel around the teapot.
Let steep for 5 minutes.
The important part is that the water must be bubbling hot. Most American kettles only bring the water just to a boil. It needs to be really boiling hard to properly steep the tea and bring out the flavour.
Best tea? One bag per cup, but you won’t know the difference if you use 1 bag per 2-cup mug as long as you steep longer than package directions. You’ll still get a bracing cup.
1 bag/cup. Pour the boiling water into the cup & steep for 5 minutes, anymore and it becomes bitter. Remove tea bag & add your preferences (milk, sugar, honey…). This is for black tea.
