How do I keep my sweet tea from going bad and getting cloudy?

After a couple days after making my sweet tea it becomes cloudy and doesn’t taste right… Do you have this same problem? Or how do you prevent it from happening so soon? Thanks!

  1. Spunk Nutley says:

There’s no preservatives in your tea and it will go downhill quick. Freshly brewed iced tea should probably be consumed within 24 hours unless you immediately transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate.

  2. All are welcome in Middletown. says:

Just keep it in the refrigerator Luke.

Luke is a nice Bible name.

  3. Louise B says:

Make a smaller batch, because anything like this will go bad if it sits for too long.

  4. Teahawk says:

I agree with the other posters (smaller batch, drink it fast) with one more tip: store it in a glass container away from anything pungent in the fridge. Plastic containers give a… well… plastic flavor to things store in them. I’ve noticed a difference with chilled sweet & green tea both.

And while it’s probably not the main problem you’re having, water & tea absorb the gases around them. Onions, garlic, a gigantic leftover month-old pizza, all can infect your taste of tea.
