Plastic containers give a... well... plastic flavor to things store in them. I've noticed a difference with chilled sweet & green tea both. And while it's probably not the main problem you're having, water & tea absorb the gases around them. Onions, garlic, a gigantic leftover month-old pizza, all can infect your taste of tea.
